Thrifted Thursday

It's garage sale season!  I've unloaded everything from my storage locker.  I've got the room.  I'm on the hunt for some big pieces anyways and if I something in the meantime so be it.  Right?  That's fair.

I found all of the macrame and knitting magazines for a quarter a piece at a church garage sale and the vintage stool was found at a thrift store for $8.

Anyone found anything good lately?  I'm heading out of town on a quick girls weekend with my mom and daughter.  I can't wait!  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

What we've been up to

I guess I've been away a little longer than expected.  While my new house is still a wreck we've settled in and are loving it.  The neighborhood is awesome.  We play in the street,  there are sidewalks, we can walk to parks..it's pretty much the best ever.  Tonight my son said "I love our new neighborhood" and I would have to agree.

Here's what we've been up to...and a photo explanation of why I've been absent from the blog.
We redid our floors.  We knew the house had a lot of hardwoods, but once we got in and started pulling up carpet we realized the entire house had wood floors.  We ended up refinishing all but one room.   It was more work than I would have ever agreed to had I known what we were getting into.  But, the outcome was totally worth it!
Flying over Chicago.  Lucky for me traveling has pretty much ceased at work for a bit.
I sold my hooptie.   It's a 1965 Cadillac.  I've had it since my twenties and it was time to let it go.   Passing the torch so someone else can embarrass their children.
Had a little snowstorm in May.
Imperial Skywalkers taking over Kauffman Center at Legoland
Getting ready for this one's first ballet recital on Saturday.
Sammy just finished soccer.  Calling it soccer at this age may even be a stretch.  But it's worth it to see these little girls run around and the effort they put into dressing up their uniforms is pretty fantastic.

Child labor.  Because duh.

We had a lot of flowers come in last month.  The man who lived here before was a gardener so it's been fun seeing what's popping up.  We have a lot of work to do in the garden but the base is there.  We've been busy pulling weeds and cutting branches.  The more trash and debris we have each week the happier I am...and the more our garbage people hate us.
The main floor is still devoid of furniture so for a minute the living room was lego central.  I still step on them daily and curse myself for buying them.
Still unpacking.  But the kitty is loving it too.  It's like she's lived here forever.
Soccer for both kids is over, ballet ends this weekend, and baseball is over at the end of the month.   So, in a nutshell, this is why I've been away.   It's almost the weekend and I couldn't be happier.  Peace and love, Amy

Miss me? Let's dance...

I'll be back tomorrow with what I've been up to since my hiatus.   In the meantime...let's shake it.  Happy Monday.
 Peace and Love-Amy
