Music Monday: This ain't no jive turkey

I hadn't heard of Mayer Hawthorne until a couple days ago.  Someone younger and way cooler was talking about him at work.  I'm hooked.  The video is good too, click here to see it.   He's got such a great 60s vibe.

I know this blog has been super quiet and boring lately.  It's tough to pack up a house that you have lived in for most of your adult life.  Add to that a couple kids and a husband and we've got a lot of stuff.  Nuff said.  I may go through some peaks and valleys over here but can't wait to start some new projects when we get settled.  I do Instagram quite a bit though so you can always follow me over there in the meantime.

We closed on the new house on the 15th and have been over there the past two weekends in a row.  When we got in we started ripping up carpet right away and couldn't believe what we found underneath.  This is going to be Sammy's room.  The carpet was old and gross.  I can't believe these beauties were waiting for us.

We are sanding everything right now (which I might already be regretting)!  The floors are in great shape all things considered but could use some love.  If we don't do it now, it will never happen.  We've got until the 15th of next month to be all moved in but time is moving fast.  We only have the weekends to work on it so even though it seems like a long time it's really only about 6 solid days.  I am  still giddy with excitement.  xoxo, Amy

My baby is 7

7!  That's not even right.  It seems like just yesterday you were a baby and I was scared to death!  I still remember being released from the hospital and the whole time I just kept thinking holy shit I am responsible for this little human being and these people are letting me take him home!

Flash forward 7 short years and here we are. You had to give a little presentation last week at school about yourself.  You made a big collage and got your pointer with the plastic finger on the end, stood tall, and starting describing each photo.  At the end you said, "any questions?".  It was as if you had rehearsed, practiced and perfected your speech.  You made mama proud.

Here's this years interview with my amazing little man.  To read last years interview click here.

What is your favorite subject?  Science.
How come?  I don't really have science but I like it when things blow up in science.
What is your best memory from when you were 6?  Going to Legoland
What is your favorite color? Silver
Favorite food?  Zman (from Oklahoma Joe's)
Sport? Basketball and football
TV show: Wizards of Waverly Place
Favorite clothes: shorts and shirt (kid hates pants still...if I let him he would wear shorts during winter).
If you had a free day to do anything what would you want to do? Go to Legoland
Favorite thing to do? build stuff with legos
What do you want to be when you grow up?  An engineer.
Why?  Because you can build whatever you want.
Height: 4'3
Weight: 85  (yes that is correct...you may see me working at your local grocery store soon, judging by his cousins I am completely screwed).
I can't believe how much you've grown over the year.  You can read like nobody's business. You say thank you for the little things, like when I get you a glass of water, or when you fall and scrape your knee and I get you bandaid.  Just a couple nights ago you said "thanks for taking such good care of me today".  And then you said "I should probably tell Grandma that too, she took good care of me today too".  It makes me beyond proud seeing what a big heart you have.  You are my sweet, sweet, boy and I love you more than the moon and stars.

Happy Birthday little man! Mama loves you.

Movin on up...

The countdown has begun and it's starting to feel real.  10 days from today. we. get. the. keys!  Time to get busy.  This lovely heart tile is the countertop in the master bath.  Yup.  Master bath.  No more sharing a bathroom the size of a small closet with my entire family.  Now, I get to share a bathroom a little bigger than a small closet with just my husband.  I can't wait!

Snow Days

We've been knee deep in snow around here.  We were snowed in for a few days and it was wonderful!   We've eaten a lot of big breakfasts, stayed up late, slept in, watch tons of movies and made lots of messes.   There is still a good foot of snow on the ground that has yet to melt.  Seeing all the fun my kids are having brings back a lot of memories from when I was a kid.  I still love the snow.

I've been M.I.A. a bit and this snowstorm is only a little bit of the reason why.  I've been busy packing!  Yep, we've found a house.  We also may have sold ours...which is pretty exciting because it's been on the market for what seems like forever.  Having a house on the market with little kids is as much fun as poking yourself in the eyeball over and over.   I think we are nearing the end of a pretty stressful time in our lives and we are looking forward to what is about to come.  I can't wait!  xoxo, Amy
