Sponsored Post- GlassesUSA

I started wearing eyeglasses in 8th grade.  They were very Sally Jessie Raphael, it was the 80s you know.  I think my mom still has them somewhere.  I remember wanting to wear glasses so bad and kind of hoping I would fail the eye test.  When I did I was soooo excited to order glasses and I knew exactly what I wanted.  After all I wasn't awkard enough at 5'11 and weighing in about 120 pounds.  My flat chest, red hair and freckles made me uber popular with the boys...so I wanted some major stylish glasses to stand out. Right?

I wore contacts all through highschool and college because glasses were not cool at all then.  Plus, it was hard to play sports in them.  Fast forward a lot of years later and I am back in the glasses club.  I still wear contacts...but very rarely, only when I get dressed up or when I play basketball or volleyball (which is even more rare than me getting dressed up)!

I stopped going to the eye doctor regularly because glasses were too freaking expensive to buy every year and my prescription always changed.  I swear I was set up.  My mind would drift back 25 years ago and I would slap my 8th grade self for ever wishing this upon myself.  I'd secreted it all those years ago and it worked.

This year a lot of new companies starting popping up shattering the monopoly that has had a grip on us for so many years.  You can now order glasses online...and you can do it on the cheap!  I have never been so excited.  GlassesUSA.com has been kind enough to offer my readers 15% off your entire order, + free shipping on all orders over $50.  *See the discount codes below.  I've ordered eyeglasses online before and intend to do it again, and again.

I guess I really haven't changed much over the years. I still wear big thick framed glasses,  I still have some freckles, and I still like 80s and 90s rap.  Or course I'm still quite tall...but no longer 120 pounds and I actually miss all those freckles.

If you order glasses I want to see what you get so come back and link up in the comment section! These are my picks below.

Music Monday-The Black Keys/RZA

I'm a huge Black Keys fan.  I heard they were coming to KC and badly want to see them live.

I stopped enjoying concerts years ago when I used to drive to Lawrence, KS and wait hours to see the The Wu-Tang Clan.  They were always late and extremely stoned but well worth the show.

When I found this video I had to post it.  I mean.  The Black Keys and RZA from Wu-Tang?  I can remember driving around Hutchinson in my 1983 Mazda GLC (mine was red) blaring this.  Yes, I was...don't judge...or do...whatevs.  We called it the "Dragon Wagon".  Mostly because we would squeeze about 5 oversized individuals into it and ride around listening to 90s rap doing things we shouldn't have been doing.  There was rarely anyone under 6 feet in the car at any one time.  A couple people were over 6'8.  It was so small I could reach back and roll the opposite rear window down while driving.  Needless to say it was comical.  But hey, we were young, and stuck in a small town with nothing else to do but play basketball and find trouble.  Studying was kind of out of the question...and you can only play so much ball.  Someone hit it in the parking lot one day and knocked off my bumper.  It was there fault.  But, since I didn't want to be late to class, I picked up the bumper and threw it in the trunk.  Probably not the smartest move on my part but it beat running laps for being late.  I sold it when I moved back home for the summer for $50 and free tow.

Twenty years laters and one of my favorite bands of today teamed up with a fave rapper of mine from back in the day.  It put a smile on face...and maybe it will yours too.  It also reminds me of a Quentin Tarantino movie...which I also like.  Happy Monday to you!  Amy

Two of my beautiful nieces and one of their friends came over the other night for a little impromptu photo shoot.  It was beyond fun and makes me realize I need to do this more often.  They are such fun girls and they make me feel so young.  It's so much better having real life models than a mannequin to show off my vintage goodies.  I've updated the shop a little and plan on doing more updates soon!  I've got tons of records to list in the record shop too.

My hubs just told me it's going to be 70 tomorrow.  I love the midwest!  Not sure I'll be saying that next week when it's back down to the 30s.  xoxo, Amy

Friday Faves: Knuckle Rings

4 Above the Knuckle Rings - gold thin shiny rings - set of 4 stack midi rings
Double layer wishbone/chevron knuckle ring - 2 sterling silver knuckle wire band.
Triangle Knuckle Ring -Layering Above the knuckle Gold Brass Stacking Ring
I'm eating my words once again.  I said many times long ago that the 80s and 90s were the worst ever in terms of fashion and I hoped they would never come back.  Since I've said that I've bought many a pair of dance pants (leggings), and still, not so secretly want a gold shiny pair.  No lie.  I've also had my eye on these over the knuckle rings for awhile.  I wore them in highschool and still like them.  So there you go. I can't get enough of the 80s and 90s right now.  I. love. it. all.  Minus big bangs and wings and aqua net.  I'm going to go hot roll my hair now.

If you like these little rings but would rather have real gold CatbirdNYC has a ton.   Happy Friday! Amy

Thrifted Thursday-Life Lately

How come we are so motivated at the start of the New Year?  At the beginning of the month?  I had high hopes of putting up one of those great goals list..."resolutions", that I may never follow.  I still might.  It does feel good to write your goals down even if you don't stick to them.  I haven't been thrifting over the holidays.  Been too busy taking care of sick kids, cleaning, napping, and eating my weight in cookies, pies, cheese, dips and other super healthy foods.

I figured since it was Thursday I would go ahead and do a thrifting post...lucky for me most of the things in this photo were thrifted so I figured it counted.   The couch was thrifted for $70. It was not intended to last...just get us through until we move. Surprisingly we all kind of dig it. Unfortunately it's light enough for my daughter to move. Her new thing is "organizing". Which means rearranging furniture and relocating items all around the house to whatever spot she chose to "organize". It usually ends bad for someone. Either us or her depending on the day.  It's my fault. I'm ok with it. When she grows up it will come in handy I'm sure.

The blanket was thrifted/found...I can't remember which, but its been a staple in our home all year.  It stays in my trunk during the warm months for soccer and baseball practice.  The needlepoint I've had for a while. It's one of my favorites.  You can't see it very well but the end table was also thrifted. It has slots underneath for records.

That's all I got. Hope your Christmas was amazing. Mine was the best.  My kids are at a great age where everything is extremely magical. My husband and I agreed not to get each other gifts.  We just re-did our kitchen floors so that was our gift.  Christmas morning he handed me a box of chocolates.  I looked him square in the eye and said "one of your customers gave you this didn't they"?  He really thought he could get away with it.  I took it to work the next day and we all shared them for breakfast.

If you haven't noticed I changed my banner to Wanderland Vintage (the name of my vintage and record shop).  I got sick of looking at my giant face everytime I logged on here, and I've been wanting to change it for a while.  Trying to find the time to get everything else on my blog fixed up and looking sharp for the New Year.  It's a work in progress so bear with me.  Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, whatever it is you celebrate...and New Year.   xoxo, Amy
