Adventures in thrift

I haven't been feeling like blogging lately.  I'm in a slump.  I have been painting my house, and trying to get my children to stop wrestling.  A little thrifting always seems to cheer me up.  I have a HUGE update on Etsy in the works...but here's at sneak peek at my favorite finds.

Lots of great vintage patterns.  See the one for hats and turbans in the upper left?  Turbans are everywhere on the net.  Not sure I have the balls to pull one off, but still couldn't resist the pattern for one.
Tons of 60's and 70's originals.  If only I didn't like to sleep at night!
This picture is terrible (taken with my phone) but I love these vintage stretchy watches.
Hard to tell in this crummy photo, but this is patent!  It sold already.  I swear sometimes it's hard to part.
Needlepoints.  I can't resist.  I passed one up the other day, and while I was standing there checking out, someone else had grabbed it for her daughters room.  If only I had a warehouse sized basement.  It would be on.
Needlepoint kits. Booyah.

Here is a vintage twin size bedspread.  I went the next day and found these...

Matching curtains.  The tag had no price, but said "3" which in thrift lingo, means set.  And since I am so on top of things and organized (not) I still had the comforter in my trunk.  So, they gave me the curtains for FREE.   This was a much needed 3 day weekend.  And, the fighting ensues.  I have to break up Monday nights WWF.  Ahhhh, back to reality.

Linking up to party again...I have missed meeting new bloggers.  Check out the "i like to party page" to see where it's at!

Blended family

I love waking up to random photos my stepdaughter took on my phone.  Makes my heart swell.  Can't believe this is the same little girl who didn't want a little brother or sister.  Her secret's out.  She loves them just as much as they ADORE and love her.

Here she is holding Jeremy when he was just a baby.  Still a little unsure.
I cannot believe I met her when she was as old as Jeremy is now.  Time flies.  Hug your children.  Pretty soon they will be in highschool and you will cry. Years ago my sister in law used the term blended family.  Love that so much.  All they know, is that this is there sissy.  Period.  End of story.

Homecoming Queen!

I've never been homecoming queen, but thought it was an appropriate title.  I got an email from the fabulous Shelley at Crazy Wonderful nominating me for the...du du du duuuuhhhh...Versatile Blogger Award.
Yup!  Thanks Shelley my dear!  Be sure to check out her blog Crazy Wonderful.  She is beyond A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.  No joke.

Rules of the Award:
1. Link back to the person who nominated you for the award
2. Share 7 facts about yourself
3. Pass the award along to 7 new-found blogging buddies
4. Contact those buddies to congratulate them

My 7 Facts:

1.  I have a standing date nightly with the hubs to watch Young and Restless.  We have been doing this since we first met.  When we argue our DVR gets backed up on episodes.:)
2.  I can eat more in one sitting than most truckdriver's and football players.  In college after a basketball game I used to get a double cheeseburger meal (supersized), a 20 piece mcnugget (that I would share with my bff Jessica) and the 2 for 1 apple pie (that Jessica and I would share), with a DIET coke.  I had a decent metabolism, but ran my ass off everyday in practice.  When I got pregnant I thought it was my ticket to eat everything I wanted in mass quanities.  And then I got pregnant again...and my metabolism gave me the double middle finger and laughed in my face.
3.  I hate wearing shoes (inside and outside)...and makeup...and jewelry, but love the process of dressing up.  The first thing I do when I get home from work is change into sweats, take off all my jewelry, put my hair in a ponytail and wash my face.
4.  My husband is the one they told me stay away from.  I can remember it like yesterday.  There were two Jeff's at work.  "Whatever you do Amy stay away from Jeff and Jeff".  At least the picked the good one!
5.  My 2 year daughter belches like a truckdriver.
6.  I stopped growing when I was 16, I was 6'2.  Needless to say I didn't have many boys chasing me in highschool.
7.  I learned how to light a cigarette off a toaster in junior college.  My parents were very proud.

I couldn't help myself

Gotta a case of the Monday Blues?  Put your spandex on and shake your money makers.

Leslie and the Lys are a fave. Just saw this new one.  If you are new to this awesomeness...she is known for her affinity to Gem Sweaters and spandex.  Need I say more?

Another one.

And the cu de gra...

Your welcome.  Now you understand why Will Ferrell is dreamy to me.

Liviana's Journey

Liviana's Journey started back in 2007 when a childhood friend learned that the baby she was carrying would be born with CDH (you can learn more about here on her blog).  She had only a 50/50 chance of survival.  She fought, she survived, and was a miracle baby to say the least.  Just two years later she was diagnosed with MLD (metochromatic leukodrystophy).   It is a genetic disorder, a progressive degenerative brain disease with no cure.  If I hadn't lost it already...at this point, as a mother, this is where I certainly lose it. It's difficult for me to even put this in writing now.

Our brothers have been the best of friends for as long as I can remember.   She is an amazing mother and is facing something in life that no mother should ever be faced with.  They had her baby son tested shortly after Livi's diagnosis.  And he too had the gene.  Her family has relocated to Milan, Italy so baby G can undergo clinical trials for .   He is still pre-symptomatic so they are doing everything they can to save him from what the future may bring.  They have uprooted their family from the US and temporarily moved to another country.  I cannot imagine what they are going through right now, and how they are surviving.  One of their awesome friends has put together this auction in hopes to take some of the tremendous financial burden off their shoulders.  I have a donated a gift certifate, so if you like vintage, this is a great cause.  There is also a ton of handmade stuff available.  If you feel it in your heart and have a large network, any tweeting, facebooking of the auction would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance for any help, prayers, donations, etc!

To visit the auction and place a bid simply click here.  In the sidebar there is a link to my etsy shop.  There are tons of goodies around $30 and between you and me if it's close to, or a little over $30 it's all good.  Just message me.  PS.  Shipping in the US is covered too.
